Florida Rep is committed to providing a first-class regional theatre for Southwest Florida; to creating, nurturing and developing an ensemble of theatre professionals who will develop long term relationships working on a wide variety of plays; to helping improve the quality of life in our community through all the arts; and to making the arts, especially theatre, accessible to all.Our background is an artform.
Florida Rep is located in the heart of the Fort Myers River District, and is part of a relatively young community that is growing and developing rapidly. Just between Naples and Sarasota, Fort Myers is the gateway to Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and the theatre sits on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River within walking distance of the marina, and a plethora of affordable restaurants. Florida Rep is a not-for-profit theatre group headed by Producing Artistic Director Robert Cacioppo. Although formed in 1998, the ensemble-based company is a continuation of the troupe that Cacioppo developed over a twenty-year period on Sanibel and Captiva, chiefly at the Pirate Playhouse.
Florida Rep is a fully professional Equity company on contract with the Actors' (AEA), Directors' (SSDC) and Designers' (USA) unions, and comprised of professional actors, stage managers, directors, designers and technicians.
